The Black Faced Sheep Café & Restaurant in Aboyne in the heart of Royal Deeside has been known for it’s warm welcome and delicious food since 1990.
Our food is made using the finest Scottish ingredients, and is freshly made to order. All of our cakes, focaccia and granary bread is lovingly baked every day in the Black Faced Sheep kitchen.
Join us for Brunch in Aboyne, served all day, add a bottle or glass of Fizz if you fancy. Or, choose from our lunch menu which features our delicious soups, our famous homemade bruschetta, fresh salads and seafood platters.
Morning coffee and cake and afternoon tea and cake are a speciality. We are renowned for our choice of cakes, all homemade, and also available to order.
We are fully licensed café in Aboyne and have a wide selection of wonderful wines.

Events & Evenings
At The Black Faced Sheep, Royal Deeside, we host monthly evening dining events on the last Friday of every month (except December).
Expect delicious food, outstanding wines and a great atmosphere! In 2025 we will be holding a variety of events, courses and workshops from a range of speakers.
Whole Cakes to Order
For years our customers have been enjoying our whole cakes in their own homes to share with a full house of visitors, to take to a dinner party, as birthday cakes and celebration cakes, or “just because”. Outside Catering
If your are hosting your own event but would like some help with the catering, our delicious food and legendary cakes are also available to order.
Our homemade pate, meat or fish platters, coleslaw and various salads are all available in larger catering portions and all of our cakes are available to order whole - all we ask is 24 hours notice (although sometimes we can pull the proverbial rabbit out of the hat - you can but ask!).
We are happy to cater for a variety of outside events such as birthday parties, christenings, anniversaries, small wedding buffets, and for funerals (all treated with a delicate, unobtrusive care).

Picnic Lunch
Delicious picnic lunches are available from The Black Faced Sheep in Aboyne at the heart of Royal Deeside from £14.95 per lunch. Ideal for the Annual Aboyne Games Day, fishing days, cycle days, big hike days - or even just to enjoy on The Aboyne Green!
