About Us

Surrounded by the beauty of Royal Deeside with The Deeside Way on the doorstep, and situated in the picturesque village of Aboyne, The Black Faced Sheep was founded in 1990.

Mark and Sylvie Ronson successfully built and nurtured The Black Faced Sheep over many years into the unique business it is today. In 2023 they took their well earned retirement and we always enjoy it when they pop in to see us for coffee and cake. The Black Faced Sheep was taken over by Morag Cormack who continues to run the operation with the wonderful BFS team. Morag has owned several successful businesses and now brings her passion for quality customer service, excellent fresh food and her love of home interiors, to The Black Faced Sheep.

Generations of families (including the Royal Family!), have been coming to The Black Faced Sheep for decades.  It has huge sentimental value to the Aberdeenshire community and visitors from all over the world.

At The Black Faced Sheep (the oldest eatery in Royal Deeside), you will find a welcoming Café and Restaurant combined with an intriguing shop packed full of beautiful furniture, gifts and homeware, all carefully chosen to bring a little elegance and country into your living space.

We welcome walkers, cyclists, day trippers, tourists & families, including wheelchair users (access is available to the rear).  There is an outside seating area which enables customers to make the most of our wonderful weather (!).  We have water bowls for our canine friends, dogs are welcome inside and out.

Our legendary whole cakes can be ordered with 24 hours notice, hampers are available to order at Christmas time, we host private functions, cater for outside events, hold regular dining evenings, events & workshops and we offer our unique Live Mood Board Design Service. Our homeware is now also available to shop online. Do take a look!

We look forward to welcoming you
